Pastor Gil was saved and committed his life to Jesus at Calvary Chapel West Covina (Now Calvary Chapel Diamond Bar) where Raul Ries is still pastor. This is where he was grounded and raised up into ministry. Along with ministry training, Pastor Gil was involved in new believers counseling, helping hands and headed up the gang outreach program. Pastor Gil received his ordination from Pastor Raul Ries of Calvary Chapel Diamond Bar.

In 1982, seeing a leading of the Lord for ministry, Pastor Gil and his wife Irene moved to Northern California with their first daughter Yvonne. He soon found himself involved in helping with a Calvary Chapel affiliate church plant that began as a home fellowship, and became the assistant pastor in this work. Then in 1986, the Lord opened the door for him to start a Calvary Chapel in Red Bluff.

The church began in their front room with a handful of people and soon found themselves looking for a bigger meeting location. First a restaurant, then a theater, then a storefront that had been a martial arts studio. Today they are in their own church facility on Paskenta Rd., which they have been in since December 2005.

"Since the Lord opened the door for this work in 1986, I have been amazed and humbled by what the Lord has let us see and what He has done here. We simply seek to teach the people to love the Lord, love His word and love one another, including the unsaved."

Pastor Gil lives in Red Bluff with his wife of 30 years Irene, their four daughters, three of which are married, their six beautiful grandchildren and his birddog Bleu.

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
